I drove form Seattle to Rock Creek, about 800 km
This is a an 8 hour drive from Puget Sound across Washington to the Rocky Mountains
In Idaho and Montana.
The weather was wonderful
Each morning was clear and sunny, The temperature was about 3 - 4 degrees
Big Horn Sheep grazing near the creek
Hunting seasons had just begun
So it was wise toe wear something orange so not to be mistaken for a deer or elk
Lower Rock Creek near the confluence of the Clark Fork
Here the creek valley grows wider and offers more gravel bars to fish from
Some folks refer to Rock Creek as Snot Creek because the rocks are covered with algae
Having a nice gravel bar to fish from makes fishing safer
Less chance of a fall in the cold water
Another gravel bar. Note the orange stocking cap
The confluence of Rock Creek and the Clark Fork
The Clark Fork flows along the Interstate (snelweg). Note the truck on the hiway
The fish: Brown Trout
Rocky Mountain White Fish - The Creek is full of them. I caught 5 or 6 to each trout that I landed
Rainbow Trout
Cuttbow - The native fish to the area is the West Slope Cutthroat Trout
Another Cutbow. He has taken a black leech tied on a number 2 hook
Beavers busy at work along the Creek
